IDAHO COURT OF APPEALS

  JUDGE DARREL R. PERRY   

Judge Darrel R. Perry was raised in the southeast corner of Idaho, first in Dubois and then in Pocatello.   He attended the University of Idaho, graduating in 1976 with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Economics.  He obtained his J.D. degree in 1979 from the University of Idaho College of Law. 

Following graduation, he joined the Lewiston firm of Knowlton and Miles as an associate handling a variety of civil matters and serving as public defender.  During this time, Judge Perry also taught Business Law and Economics at Lewis-Clerk State College as part of its continuing education department.  He was appointed by the Second Judicial District Magistrate Commission to serve as a magistrate judge for Nez Perce County effective January 1, 1982, at the age of twenty-seven. 

Judge Perry served as a magistrate until July 1993, when, at the age of thirty-eight, he was appointed to the Idaho Court of Appeals.  He was elected for additional six-year terms in 1994, 2000, and 2006.  Judge Perry has served four terms as Chief Judge of the Court.  Judge Perry serves on the Supreme Court’s Judicial Education and Media in the Courts Committees.    

He has two daughters, Katie and Natalie.
